The Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Jaen, together with 10 other European universities, has signed up to the Nurses Climate Challenge pledge as an opportunity to proactively engage and empower nursing students at all levels in this movement and advance environmental sustainability.
Nurses must be prepared to care for patients in the context of climate change, be informed about actions to mitigate further climate impacts and increase resilience against those impacts. The European Nurses Climate Challenge is a campaign run by the non-governmental organisation Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) and aims to provide nurses with the resources to educate health professionals, students, communities, residents and service users across Europe about the impacts of climate change on health and the impact of the health sector on climate change and the environment.
In April 2021, the working group to develop the Commitment of University Nursing Centres to include environmental health in their curricula was launched in order to publish and translate the Commitment in September.
The teaching-learning process will use, among others, the resources available on the NurSusTOOLKIT platform generated by teachers from the CuiDsalud Group.
